Telavi

Telavi is cultural and agricultural center of Kakheti. There is the state theatre, the historical-ethnographic museum and many other sights there.

Telavi has got a great history. It was a metropolis. There are many old theatres there. In Georgia Telavi is the only city where you can see the king’s palace. All these factors contributed to the development of tourism here.

Economic environment and the popular business sectors

This area is known for its long-standing plantations. The existing resource of lands define the development of corresponding fields of agriculture. Telavi is in the third place with its number of vine-yards (6,048 ha). Except wine factories, the region is also rich with home-made wine industry.

Tourism

Supporting different kinds of festivals and international events is planned.

Practical school has been founded here where tourists can see how Georgian handicrafts are made. International Tennis Tournament for women will take place, where 37 countries are going to participate.

It is remarkable to note the marathon “World Run” that has been taking place regularly for the last several years in this area.
