HackerNest is an international nonprofit building strong, supportive “Silicon Valley”-type tech communities everywhere. Organizers do this by running unpretentious Tech Socials, hackathons, job fairs, and other tech-community uniting projects to improve humanity, technological advancement, and overall economic prosperity.

HackerNest Construct, hardware hackathon series, is a multi-day programming competition focused on real technology hacks. Unlike others, business plans and commercial viability do not factor into judging. DementiaHack, a hackathon series are produced with the British Consulate General, focused on Dementia and Alzheimer’s patient care and quality of life and was the first of its kind. Originally held concurrently in Canada and the UK, it expands more in 2015 and beyond!
A robust “city GPS” / directory platform and community portal is in development. Starting with Toronto and select HackerNest cities, this is a pioneering initiative to cohesively connect all the disparate factions of a city’s tech ecosystem with the ultimate goal of greater economic prosperity.
